Chiusi, ancient Etruscan centre and modern centre of wine
Ancient Etruscans and good wine might not seem to have much in common, but in Tuscany anything is possible! Chiusi, which is today a small city in Val di Chiana, was one of the oldest and most strategic Etruscan settlements and is rich in well-preserved evidence of the past. The most spectacular is the underground labyrinth of Porsenna, which winds beneath the city, not to mention to Archaeological Museum and the extraordinary frescoes of Etruscan tombs. An enterprising wine shop has set up its wine cellar in one of these, where you can sample their excellent wine.
