Naples, a city of contrasts

Naples is a city of contrasts, good and bad, joy and sadness, beauty and decay. The contrasting souls of the city live side by side on its streets. It is not uncommon to see remnants of the ancient past coexisting with the worst signs of modernity, traffic and chaos. But it is just this that makes the city unique. Spaccanapoli, the ancient Roman decumanus that divides the entire city in two, the royal palace of Naples, rebuilt for the visit of the capricious King Philip III who then never showed up, the Archaeological Museum, which houses numerous finds from nearby Pompeii, the underground city running.
