Tuscan Coast

The beauty of this coast has always been unjustly eclipsed by more fashionable places like Versilia and the Romagna Riviera. Its beaches are smaller, but also cleaner and much less crowded – and cement has not yet overtaken the seafront. Near the beach we find dunes and old pines that conceal forgotten ancient ruins, like Populonia. In the Etruscan age, this was the most important city for iron-working, but it has now been abandoned, as has the Lago dell’Accesa settlement.
