Lucca is the perfect place for spending a few relaxing days during frenetic Tuscan vacations. Still today enclosed within Renaissance walls, the city has not yet been taken over by hectic modern life. In the city centre, one may travel only by foot or by bicycle – the use of cars is completely forbidden. One still finds tiny little food shops, and everyone knows one another. From the top of the walls, one can enjoy a unique view of the city’s one-hundred churches, its palazzos and towers, but the most stunning view is of the garden on top of the Guinigi Tower.
