Making the Most of Pride Week in Italy
Since the very first march took place in the USA in 1970, Gay Pride has become an iconic event for LGBTQ+ communities worldwide. 50 years later, dozens of countries from all over the world participate in one of the most important events on the annual calendar.
Though it has to be said that when it comes to making the most of Pride Week, there are few better places to head than Italy.

As always, events will be held across the country to celebrate Pride Week 2020. But if you’re looking for the biggest parties of all, you’ll want to check out what’s happening in Rome and Milan.
Rome Pride 2020
One of the greatest capital cities in the world, Rome plays host to one of Europe’s most epic Gay Pride events each June. This year, Rome Pride 2020 will take place during the second week of the month, culminating with the spectacular Rome Gay Pride Parade on June 13.
Once again, the several days preceding the weekend will be packed with fantastic events and gatherings across the city. From film screenings and lectures to all-action parties of epic proportions, it’s all happening in Rome in the early summer.
The parade itself starts at Piazza Della Repubblica and ends at Piazza Venezia, passing some of the world’s most iconic landmarks along the way. There’s really no better backdrop for this kind of party, but book early as Rome is a city that fills up fast.
Milan Pride
Heading north, Milan Pride is the biggest LGBTQ event in this part of the country. On average, around a quarter of a million people pile into the city to check out what’s on offer. For the 2020 event – running from June 18 to June 28 – last year’s record attendance is expected to be exceeded once again.
The parade itself will take place on June 27, which again takes in some of the city’s most iconic sights and attractions. ‘Pride Square’ will be open from June 25 to June 27, serving as the epicenter of the whole thing.
Again, it’s advisable to book early if you intend to stay in the center of Milan, which fills up fast throughout the year.
